On June 8, the cast of the original Ghostbusters — Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts — will join the cast of the new Ghostbusters — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones — on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sony has likely set up the appearance, which coincides with the original release of Ghostbusters and with “Ghostbusters Day,â€Â to assuage fans of the original who have taken to attacking the new film online (earlier this week, Aykroyd also tweeted his support for the new film). It seems like the event will be a step toward calming that fervor, though fact that we have something called “Ghostbusters Day†may be part of the problem.
