Wow, would you look at that. A low-budget horror movie that overperformed at the box office is now getting a sequel. Deadline reports that, on the heels of Lights Out bringing in $22 million during its opening weekend, New Line has quickly green-lit a sequel for the darkness-themed thriller. Director David F. Sandberg, who turned a low-budget short he made with his wife into the horror feature, will return for the second installment after he finishes making Annabelle 2. The Swedish filmmaker also says he’s talking to New Line about acquiring the rights to his other shorts. Everything’s coming up Sandberg!
