What a weird 24 hours it’s been for Tyler Posey. It all started with the Teen Wolf star posting a brief video to his Snapchat account yesterday afternoon, which found him standing on the street corner of Gay and Christopher Streets in Manhattan. In the video, Posey gleefully declares: “This is me, I am this and this is me, I’ve never felt more alive. I’m gay!†before posting another video in bed declaring, “I am lamp.†(Take note, Brick Tamland.) With curiosity and anger beginning to heighten on social media, a publicist for Teen Wolf gave a statement to Fusion, saying that she believes Posey’s alleged coming out as “gay†was “meant in the context of ‘I’m happy,’ not as a coming-out.†People were, understandably, not amused, and backlash was swift.

Now, Posey himself is speaking out and apologizing for the incident by confirming that he’s indeed straight and not actually gay. “I am a big proponent of love over hate, and standing together during divisive times,†Posey said on his Twitter account. “Although I’m not gay, I fully support the LGBTQ community. This was a moment intended to reflect that. And everyone, I am truly sorry to the people I’ve offended or lessened how big coming out is. I just want to spread love in this world.†Maybe do that by going off Snapchat for a while, man.
