The latest xXx: The Return of Xander Cage trailer is intended to get you hyped for the film’s badass soundtrack, specifically the featured song “In My Foreign†by the Americanos. However, the relaxed, summertime-party jam kind of sucks the danger and anticipation out of the movie’s perilously absurd stunts. Sure, it’s believable that Vin Diesel’s secretive operative Xander Cage is so chill he could snap an assault rifle in half and then kick back with some piano-heavy tunes, but come on. Stakes, people. The film’s first trailer, which you can watch below, at least treat Vin’s loyal team of gun-hungry extreme-sports freaks with the level of gravitas they deserve.Â
The movie, which is coming out 12 years after the last xXx installment, brings “the good, the extreme, and the completely insane†to theaters on January 20, 2017.
