Jean-Claude Van Damme’s meta-comedy Jean-Claude Van Johnson will debut on Amazon tomorrow, but you can watch the trailer for it right now. We open on a lonely and alone JCVD living the exact life you hope/fear/expect he would as a 1990s action star who the industry would tell you is past his prime. Everything is monogrammed with his initials, even the soaps and lotions. His house is sparsely decorated but for the posters of his movies and so many photos of dogs on a table. One of the frames reads “Dogs leave paw prints on your heart forever.†The only food he has is Pop-Tarts, and when he reads the morning trades, he probably doesn’t see his name inside. But what the world doesn’t know is that Van Damme used to be a world-class assassin named Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and he gets pulled back into the world of contract killing after “a chance encounter with a lost love.†Let the era of JCVJ begin.
