And now, an experiment to see whether it’s possible to make a movie entirely out of yells. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mel Gibson has enlisted Sean Penn for an adaptation of The Professor and the Madman, which follows the story of the making of the Oxford English Dictionary. Farhad Safinia (who wrote Apocalypto) will direct the film. Gibson will play Professor James Murray, who started compiling the OED in 1857, while Penn will play Dr. W.C. Minor, an inmate at an insane asylum who submitted more than 10,000 entries to the work. We’re sure Ryan Murphy is already trying to get the rights to the stories from this set.
