At Starz’s Television Critics Association press day on Monday, the network’s chief executive officer Chris Albrecht promised the channel’s time-traveling romance drama Outlander will “be around for a while.†“[Diana Gabaldon’s books, which are the basis for the series] are easier to carry on your iPad than under your arm, but they’re monumental, gigantic undertakings,†Albrecht said. “We’ve committed at least through book four. As soon as I get to read books five and six, we will get to talk about that.†The former HBO chairman and CEO also threw some shade at the Television Academy for snubbing the show at the Emmys: “I don’t think we’ll ever break through with those people,†he said. “I was part of the team that invented how to campaign for Emmy awards. Trust me: It’s not a level playing field.â€
