‘The Simpsons’ to Air Very First Hour-Long Episode

It’s hard to imagine there’s anything The Simpsons hasn’t done in its 27 seasons on air, but believe it or not, there’s another first coming: an hour-long episode.

Titled “The Great Phatsby†and featuring guests Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henson, The Simpsons first full hour will air next January, in the middle of its 28th season.

“I just pray it won’t be the last thing people see before a Trump inauguration,†says executive producer Al Jean (The Simpsons officially endorsed Hillary Clinton earlier this year).

According to Deadline, “The Great Phatsby†will be about:

Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) as he tries to relive his glory days and crosses paths with a mysterious music mogul. After being conned by him and reduced to bankruptcy, Mr. Burns seeks revenge on the producer with the help of Homer, Bart, rapper Jazzy James (Key) and the mogul’s ex-wife, Praline (Henson). Also in the episode, Lisa (Yeardley Smith) is courted by the richest kid in town, Smithers (Shearer) begins a perilous journey and Marge (Julie Kavner) opens an obscure boutique store.
