If you were hoping to see more of Veep Hugh Laurie than House Hugh Laurie in the near future, you’re going to be in for a little disappointment. Laurie’s new Hulu series, Chance, is a tried-and-true psychological thriller with a menacing edge: It revolves around a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist who winds up getting involved in the violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption, and mental illness when he tries to help one of his patients. Based on the novel by Kem Nunn, the ten-episode series will premiere on the streaming network on October 19. Try not to mutter “Where’s your cane?†while watching.
