Each month, several films and TV shows leave Showtime’s catalogue. We provide a list of titles leaving the platform so you can watch them all before they’re gone forever (or just available on a different site). Consider it a Labor Day weekend to-do list. For more comprehensive coverage of the best titles available on Showtime and elsewhere, check out Vulture’s What to Stream Now hub, which is updated throughout the month.
Self-reference, do you speak it? Pulp Fiction (1994)
Two decades after it premiered, Quentin Tarantino’s post-modern, pop-culture mash-up is as entertaining as ever, even if nearly every other crime movie and TV show has cribbed its quippy style. If you want to catch more Tarantino before it leaves, also check out Reservoir Dogs, which goes off Showtime on September 30. Leaving September 7.
If you don’t mind babies on the ceiling: Trainspotting (1996)
A heroin addict (Ewan McGregor) tries to get clean, but mostly gets stuck in the Edinburgh drug scene in Danny Boyle’s breakout black comedy. Come for the Sean Connery jokes, stay for the harrowing depictions of withdrawal. Leaving September 13.
Ted Cruz didn’t do it: Zodiac (2007)
Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. try to solve the mystery of the zodiac killer in David Fincher’s unsettling trip to 1970s San Francisco. Watch it, and then become convinced that everyone you know is a secret sociopath. Leaving September 30.
