Black-ish creator/executive producer Kenya Barris and fellow executive producer Vijal Patel aren’t done making the personal political. The duo have set up a new comedy at ABC, nabbing Felicity Huffman to star. According to Deadline, the show is about a politically divided family, with spouses — one white, one black — who are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Huffman, who is also executive-producing the project, will play the wife. In addition to domestic sparring, the couple at the center of the series are “bitter rivals†on a pundit show called Black & Wright, so, with that, a hearty congratulations on the restraint of the creative team for dispatching with that whopper on the show-within-a-show and not the show itself. Oh, and all of you who are addicted to Huffman doing drama can now exhale, as the series will leave Huffman with time to keep doing American Crime if it gets picked up. Finally, a show to save us from ourselves in these trying, tense times. The days of arguing about politics over the dinner table are over; may the days of the pretty TV people doing it for us live long.
