Following Donald Trump’s “major announcement†on Friday where admitted that President Obama was born in the US and blamed Hillary Clinton for starting the birther movement, late night hosts Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert pounced on the news last night and showed how easy it is to prove Trump’s latest batch of lies and attempt to glaze over the fact that he started the controversy in the first place. “You don’t get to peddle racist rhetoric for five years and decide when it’s over. We decide when it’s over. And it’s certainly not over after a 30 second statement in the middle of a hotel commercial,†Meyers said during a new “Closer Look†segment last night. “And by the way, I’m not sure the guy who holds fake press conferences, has a fake university, a fake foundation, fake hair, and a fake tan should be the one in charge of deciding what’s real.â€
“Here’s the deal: You don’t get to flog this issue for five years and then act like you’re correcting everybody else. We’re not crazy, we were there! We all saw you do it! Even the people who support you saw you do it – it’s why they support you!†Colbert said during his segment on Late Show, adding a friendly reminder to Trump that he owes Obama a $5 million donation now that he’s finally admitted that the president was born here. “He’s probably waiting on that check right now. You know, like most of your contractors.â€
