Nadiya Hussain is about to bring in a whole lot of green, flourless dough. In the latest chapter of The Great British Bake Off’s ongoing BBC–Channel 4 saga, Hussain, as reported by The Guardian, announced that she’ll be staying at the BBC to develop new projects and create films for The One Show (a weekly magazine program), as opposed to following the show — and Paul Hollywood — to its new home on Channel 4. (Hussain was triumphantly crowned the winner of Bake Off’s most recent season.) This news follows the similar actions of more established Bake Off personnel Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins, and Mary Berry, who respectively announced last month they would not be continuing their careers on Channel 4. It should be noted, though, that a Channel 4 representative said Hussain was never approached about any potential role on the new show.

“Since winning The Great British Bake Off I’ve been lucky to have had some amazing opportunities with the BBC. I believe that making it my home gives me the scope to work across such a unique range of diverse and interesting projects,†she said in a statement. “I never thought this would happen, but it is and I have to admit, I’m going to embrace it.†Embrace away, and also celebrate with some homemade drizzle cakes while you’re at it.
