Season 8 of ‘Archer’ Will Take Place in 1947

During a recent podcast interview, Archer creator Adam Reed revealed that his plan is to end the show after season 10 and that he had some interesting plans in store for the final three seasons. “I was gonna end it after 8, but then I had sort of a brain explosion of a way that I could do three more seasons and really keep my interest up,†he said. “So the three seasons that are coming up are gonna be pretty different from what has come before, and they’re gonna be different from each other.â€

During a panel at New York Comic-Con last night, Reed gave away some spoilers about season 8, and it looks like the Archer gang will be jumping back in time to 1947 in a plot centered around the death of Woodhouse (voiced by the late George Coe) titled Archer: Dreamland. From IGN:

In this 1947 timeline, for instance, Sterling Archer is no longer a spy, but rather a private investigator on the hunt for the person who murdered his old partner, Woodhouse — George Coe, the actor who voiced Woodhouse in earlier seasons passed away in 2015. Thanks to the time shift, Lana Kane will meet Archer for the first time yet again, although in this reality, it will be as a lounge singer.

Executive producer Matt Thompson also addressed the news that Archer will end after season 10. IGN says he “wasn’t quite as adamant†about season 10 being the end, but “he re-iterated that they were signed through Season 10 and that it felt likely that’s when the show would wrap up.â€
