While once upon a time, a wily political figure needed a crackerjack pair of ace reporters to bring him down, Donald Trump is no Richard Nixon. None of which is to say that political reporters aren’t doing a fine job this election season, but you don’t exactly have to be Woodward and Bernstein if you’re the resident of a dark, dank time in which Deep Throat and Nixon are one and the same. Seth Meyers explained the ease in pinning down the latest of Trump’s alleged wrongdoings on Thursday’s “Closer Look,†because it’s a lot harder to doubt accusers when the guy you’re accusing has literally admitted to that kind of behavior while wearing a hot mic. Meyers also examined Mike Huckabee’s comparison of this election to Jaws, a movie that these days ain’t looking as gruesome as it once did.
