If you missed Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford’s City Center performances of Sunday in the Park With George last fall (you probably did, there were only four) you’ll finally have a chance to see it. This spring, Gyllenhaal and Ashford will reopen Broadway’s Hudson Theatre with a fleshed-out version of their concert take on the Pulitzer Prize–winning musical, which has music and lyrics from Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. Sarna Lapine, niece of James, will direct the production. Gyllenhaal was previously set to star in a production of Burn This at the Hudson this spring, but it was later postponed due to scheduling conflicts. According to the New York Times, he was able to do Sunday instead because it required less of a time commitment. Previews for Sunday in the Park will begin on February 11, 2017, with opening night on February 23. The revival will close on April 23, which means there’s only limited time to get tickets, and therefore, bragging rights.
