Watch the Trailer for Jay Z’s Kalief Browder Documentary

The trailer for TIME: The Kalief Browder Story, Jay Z’s docuseries on Kalief Browder’s criminal-justice horror story is here. The rapper and the Weinstein Company produced the deep dive into Browder’s life and the three years he spent behind bars on Rikers Island without being convicted of a crime. Browder killed himself in 2015 after having trouble adjusting to the outside world. The six-part series will examine the legal and political quandary he was caught up in, with “first-person accounts, archival footage, and cinematic recreations of key scenes from Browder’s life,†according to the Fader. The trailer shows haunting reenactments of Browder’s imprisonment, and moving tributes from his mother Venida, who died of a “broken heartâ€Â in October. The first installment will air on Spike Wednesday, March 1.
