Since you probably won’t be able to fly across the pond to see the limited theater run of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s critically adored Fleabag, snuggle up in your cubicle and enjoy Waller-Bridge’s smooth British narration as she turns the beloved Christmas song “The Twelve Days of Christmas†into, well … an exceedingly dark and twisted narrative about a romance reaching its breaking point. As it turns out, her character isn’t too happy that her boyfriend keeps sending a medley of geese, turtle doves, maids, and swans — “imagine my personal hell during this period and the pure devastation caused to my one-bedroom flat†— and the police aren’t particularly keen to stop this “lovely gesture†from continuing. Is this an elaborate display of affection, or the calling card of a mentally unstable stalker? Only you can decide.
