The “female-driven†21 Jump Street spin-off that’s been in development since early 2015 just made another major change. According to Deadline, 22 Jump Street co-writer Rodney Rothman is now set to write and direct the spin-off movie, which will feature female cops in the leading roles. The first version of the script came from Broad City duo Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs back in April 2015 followed by Bob’s Burgers writers Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux a few months later. As Vanity Fair notes, it’s a little disappointing to see a “female-driven†movie written and directed by a man, but if Bad Moms can get away with it, why not Jump Street too?
