Last summer, SNL and Good Neighbor collaborators Kyle Mooney and Dave McCary teamed up to make a movie called Brigsby Bear, and thanks to a successful run at this year’s Sundance, the project has been sold to Sony Pictures Classics for $5 million. According to Variety, the film – which stars Mooney and also features Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, and Greg Kinnear – is expected to be released in theaters sometime this summer. The project was written by Mooney and Kevin Costello, makes McCary’s feature directorial debut, and The Lonely Island, Chris Miller, and Phil Lord are all credited as producers. Variety describes the film’s critical reception at Sundance as “positive, if slightly befuddled†– which sounds about right for anything Kyle Mooney-related. Read more about the film here.
