Warner Bros.’ superhero operation has been having a bumpy go of it lately, what with not being able to keep a director for next year’s The Flash and chatter emerging that Ben Affleck might want to hang up his bat-eared cowl. But today brings a smidge of good news for the beleaguered studio: Variety is reporting that Warner has signed Planet of the Apes reboot-franchise helmer Matt Reeves to take over the director’s chair for the as-yet-unscheduled Batman solo flick, widely rumored to be titled The Batman. This update comes after Affleck himself walked away from directing the project, though he’s still supposed to star and co-write the flick. For now, at least.
