Judy Greer was one of the little highlights of 2015’s Ant-Man, playing the titular man’s ex-wife and co-parent Maggie, now engaged to a cop played by Bobby Cannavale. Her character survived the action of the film and the subsequent cataclysms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that’s no guarantee that she’ll be back to ground Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang in next year’s sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp. It’s slated to start filming in July, but Greer has received no word about Maggie’s presence or lack thereof.
When asked by Vulture what her Ant-status was during the press tour for Craig Johnson’s Wilson, in which she plays a supporting role, she said she wasn’t sure. “They haven’t asked, so I’m willing to campaign for it,†Greer said. “I’d love to. Working with Paul and Bobby was amazing, and then [director] Peyton Reed is amazing.†She also doesn’t know how much of this summer’s War for the Planet of the Apes she’s in. Greer plays one of the CGI apes (“I was in a Velcro unitard for a chunk of time,†she says) and though she says her character “is still an important character in the script,†she also “didn’t work as much on this one.†That said, if you need your Greer fix, she plays a love interest/dog-sitter in Wilson, and you get to see her hang out with adorable pups — so all is not lost.
