The character Rocky Balboa was inspired by Bayonne, New Jersey’s Chuck Wepner (Liev Schreiber), a boxer who was famously beaten bloody after 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali. Now, Philippe Falardeau’s biopic of Wepner is putting the boxer-showman in the spotlight. Schreiber, Naomi Watts, and Elisabeth Moss put on their thickest Jersey accents to tell Wepner’s story of his 15 minutes of fame. Chuck, which premiered as The Bleeder at the Toronto Film Festival, will make its U.S. debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, and hits theaters May 5.
