As War for the Planet of the Apes looms on the horizon, the film’s most famous ape, Andy Serkis, stopped by The Late Show to try to make sense of some incomprehensible human communication, namely president Trump’s tweets. Using the voices of Sméagol and Gollum, Serkis gives Trump’s statements all the weird pathos they deserve. It turns out, when delivered in the voice of a ring-crazed maniac, “covfefe†kind of makes sense.
