Bryan Cranston and Greg Mottola’s Amazon comedy The Dangerous Book for Boys is rounding out its cast. According to Deadline, Erinn Hayes has signed on to star in the series, which was originally in development at NBC in 2014 and was ordered to series by Amazon back in May. Here’s the logline for the series, which is based on the 2012 book by Conn and Hal Iggulden:
Wyatt and his brothers are coming to terms with the death of their dad, Patrick, a wonderful, whimsical inventor who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Patrick leaves the boys with a copy of The Dangerous Book for Boys, and the how-to book inspires fantasies for Wyatt. While in his fantasy world, he reconnects with his father and learns life skills that help him navigate real life.
Chris Diamantopoulos has signed on to play Patrick as well as his identical twin brother Uncle Terry, Gabriel Bateman will play Wyatt, and Drew Logan Powell and Swoosie Kurtz both round out the cast. Hayes, meanwhile, will play Patrick’s widow Beth, who “is trying her best to hold things together and keep things as normal as possible for the family. Living under the same roof with Uncle Terry and her mother-in-law, Tiffany (Kurtz), presents challenges in an already chaotic household that is ever changing with three boys growing up without their dad.†The series begins production in New York this summer.
Hayes most recently starred in Kevin James’s CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait, but last month she confirmed that she’d been abruptly let go from the show before season 2.
