Netflix’s ‘Long Shot’ Chronicles How ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Freed a Man Wrongly Accused of Murder

Just a few days before season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres on HBO, Netflix is set to debut a new true crime documentary called Long Shot that looks like an absolutely fascinating watch – and one of the last things you might assume has a connection with Larry David’s big HBO return. The documentary centers on Juan Catalan, who was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit in 2003 only to be released from prison, cleared of all charges, and saved from a possible death penalty in 2007, all thanks to – wait for it – outtakes from an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. “Before his arrest for murder, Catalan said he never watched Curb Your Enthusiasm,†ABC News reported back in 2007. “But after his release from jail, he became a devoted fan.â€
