Mindy Kaling is staying very busy in the TV development world these days. According to Variety, NBC has put two comedy series in development executive produced by Kaling and her Mindy Project collaborators. First up is an untitled series from Mindy Project writer, director, and co-executive producer Lang Fisher that centers on “the dedicated diplomats of a small US embassy in the Caribbean who are suddenly thrown into chaos when an unqualified, ignorant and hard-living oil man is appointed as their new ambassador.†The second show, Venice Beach Venture, is a workplace comedy from Mindy Project co-showrunner Matt Warburton “set amidst the booming Southern California tech scene, where a brilliant young female engineer faces an exasperating workplace and an arrogant billionaire boss at an elite venture capital firm.†In addition to the two new projects in development, Kaling is also producing and appearing on the upcoming NBC comedy she co-created with Charlie Grandy , Champions, which was ordered to series earlier this year.
