French comedian Gad Elmaleh is heading to Netflix to star in his own series. According to Deadline, the streaming network has ordered a half-hour comedy series based on Elmaleh’s life called Huge in France. The eight-episode series follows Elmaleh “at an emotional crossroads†as he leaves a successful comedy career in France “and moves to Los Angeles in an attempt to reconnect with his estranged, comedy hating, 16-year-old male model son. Sadly he’ll have to do it without a single celebrity perk.†Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel co-created the series with Elmaleh and will serve as executive producers.
In addition to the series, Netflix also announced that Elmaleh’s English-language standup special, which is part of a two-special deal announced last year, will premiere sometime in 2018. The first French-language special, Gad Gone Wild, debuted back in January.
