Sarah Jessica Parker, the woman formerly known as TV’s Carrie Bradshaw, is now, officially, a book person. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the current star of HBO’s Divorce talks about how she is launching her own publishing imprint with Hogarth, which makes sense. You see, Parker loves books. She reads blogs about books, schmoozes with authors at restaurants, and has them send whole parcels of their books to her door. It’s all about books, darling!
Her imprint will be releasing the debut novel of author Fatima Farheen Mirza entitled A Place for Us in June. And in case you were curious whether she’s fishing for the next book-to-tv-show sensation, Parker says that “I haven’t considered any vertical business at all.†Which seems suspect since she uses terms like “vertical business†but, fine. And while her former Sex and the City co-star Cynthia Nixon may be centering her gubernatorial campaign around the dire state of New York City’s subways, Parker doesn’t seem to mind them. As she told EW, “I always talk about reading on the subway because it’s just a perfect place to read … I just find it enormously relaxing.†Which is definitely true if you’re famous enough to be late.
