An A-list team is assembling for a big-screen adaptation of The Woman in the Window. Deadline reports that Amy Adams will star in the movie, based on the best-selling book by A.J. Finn, which will be directed by Joe Wright with a screenplay from Tracy Letts. The story is very Rear Window, with Adams playing Anna Fox, a child psychologist with agoraphobia who stays holed up in her suburban New York home. Her favorite form of entertainment — besides drinking wine with prescription pills — is devouring old noir films, and she takes to spying on her neighbors like the characters in her movies. But her creepy behavior leads her to witness a crime in a nearby house, and she’s torn about whether or not to call the police. Adams will be trying to solve more crimes in the upcoming HBO mini-series, Sharp Objects.
