Perhaps one of the most famous works of anti-war art, Picasso’s Guernica is deeply symbolic, a cubist tapestry embedded with the image of a brutal Nazi bombing. Sadly, it’s housed in the Reina Sofía in Spain, which means many won’t ever get the chance to see it.
So our art critic, Jerry Saltz, took a replica of Guernica underground, in the hopes of learning what New Yorkers make of it and helping them understand the work.
