With Disney gearing up to launch its very own streaming service with exclusive Marvel programming, today Netflix announced the cancellation of its final two Marvel series, Jessica Jones and The Punisher. Deadline confirms that while the Krysten Ritter–fronted Jessica Jones will be airing its third season as planned later this year, the season finale will now double as a series finale. Jon Bernthal’s turn as the Über-vigilante Punisher, meanwhile, will not be getting any additional episodes after its second-season premiere and launch last month. “We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership,†Netflix said in a statement, “and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.†Fellow Marvel shows Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil were previously cancelled by Netflix in 2018.
