Movies about British rock stars are so big right now. After completing Bohemian Rhapsody in Bryan Singer’s absence, director Dexter Fletcher is back with a biopic of Elton John, starring everyone’s small, hot British husband Taron Egerton. The movie looks like it’ll be a somewhat unconventional take on the music biopic with dream and dance sequences aplenty, which befits a very unconventional star. Jamie Bell plays Egerton’s music partner Bernie Taupin; Richard Madden plays his manager and sometime lover John Reid; and Bryce Dallas Howard and a wig play John’s mother. The biopic’s marketing team wants to make it very clear that Egerton did his own singing, which feels just a little bit like Rami Malek shade. Rocketman blasts off in theaters May 31.
