Good News for Youths, The Kissing Booth 2 Is Coming

Happy Valentine’s Day, Netflix, and thank you for blessing us with the mess that is the announcement of The Kissing Booth 2. The teaser released today features Joey King and Joel Courtney (better known as Elle and Lee) “building†a kissing booth. Seriously, it’s like they didn’t even try to convince us King and Courtney were actually assembling the damn thing. Suspend your disbelief, people, because apparently kids these days do not know how to operate a hammer and nail (see 0:24, where King “attaches†a No. 2 to the booth).

So here’s what we know based on the clip, which also features the pair giggling, painting each other, fist-bumping, and dancing: A Kissing Booth 2 is in the works, and King and Courtney are in it. Whether they will reprise their roles as Elle and Lee has yet to be determined. Maybe they will play Elle and Lee dressed as other characters (see: the end of The Kissing Booth).

In case you missed the first Kissing Booth movie, everything you need to know is here. Basically, it’s a teen movie about a girl (King) who is best friends with a boy (Courtney) and falls in love with said boy’s older brother Noah (Jacob Elordi) after smooching him in a — you guessed it! — kissing booth!

The movie led to a “real-life†“romance†between stars King and Elordi — but fans seem to think they broke up. Elordi isn’t in the video, but he’s confirmed to be returning for part two.

Stop reading now if you don’t want spoilers, but at the end of the movie, Noah heads off to Harvard. King’s character drops him off at the airport, he doesn’t turn around to wave good-bye, and she speeds away down the golden coast of California, alone, in a blaze of teen feminist glory on a motorcycle.

So where does that leave us for the sequel? Well, Elle ALSO confessed her love for Lee at the end of the movie, and the video announcement seems to suggest that something is brewing between the two. You know what they say … those who build kissing booths together, stay together.
