Before J.R.R. Tolkien was synonymous with the greatest literary fantasy epic of all time, he was an orphan boy who grew into a humble Oxford professor and eventually a British soldier trying to survive World War I. From his imagination and his lived experiences sprung Middle-Earth, and Period Drama King Nicholas Hoult stars in the titular role of his origin story, Tolkien. There will be magic and war and epic romance (with Lily Collins, who plays Tolkien’s wife, Edith Bratt), and you bet there will also be plenty of fellowship. The movie premieres in theaters on May 10.
