Pete Holmes’s HBO series Crashing has come to an end. During his appearance on Conan O’Brien’s TBS show last night, Crashing executive producer Judd Apatow revealed that the series, which airs its season-three finale this weekend, will not return with new episodes — at least not on HBO. “It’s not really canceled, we’re just gonna stop making it,†Apatow said. When O’Brien asked if they wanted to make more, Apatow said yes, then explained the reason it’s not happening: “They told us we should never make any more.†A spokesperson for HBO confirmed the news, noting that the show will officially end its run on the network after the finale airs this Sunday at 10 p.m.

While Apatow told O’Brien that they are “happy that we got to tell the story we wanted to tell,†the end of Crashing on HBO doesn’t necessarily mean the story is over. O’Brien told Apatow he’s going to use his “pull in the business†in an attempt to save it, but if that doesn’t work, Apatow has another idea: a Crashing movie. Deal with that, HBO!
