Professional singing fraudster man Hugh Jackman has found a new gig. After the surprise runaway success of The Greatest Showman, Jackman is heading back to Broadway to play Harold Hill in The Music Man. Jackman tweeted out the news Wednesday morning. The revival will start performances September 9, 2020, with opening day set for October 22 — good luck opening in the midst of all the political coverage going on then. Scott Rudin, who also produced the star-led revival of Hello, Dolly! with Bette Midler, is producing The Music Man. The production will also reunite Dolly! director Jerry Zaks and choreographer Warren Carlyle, as well as most of the same creative team, including scenic and costume designer Santo Loquasto, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Scott Lehrer, and dance arranger David Chase. Patrick Vaccariello and Jonathan Tunick join the group as the musical director and orchestrator.

Jackman previously won a Tony for starring in The Boy From Oz in 2004 and earned another special Tony in 2012 — he’s also hosted the ceremony three times, and they should really get him to do it again. The Music Man hasn’t yet announced a theater or the rest of its casting. Jackman is about to go on a world tour, because the poor man never gets to sleep.
