R. Kelly’s two girlfriends — Azriel Clary, 21, and Joycelyn Savage, 23 — were interviewed by Gayle King on CBS This Morning on Thursday, and both claimed their parents were trying to exploit their relationship with the singer for cash. “Both our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam, because they didn’t agree on what happened, you know, with music or whatever it could be. And they’re just very upset,†Savage told King. Both women said their parents have sought money from R. Kelly, and Clary said her parents were the first people to encourage her to lie to R. Kelly about her age. Both parents say Kelly has brainwashed their daughters and are worried for their safety.
“This is all fucking lies for money, and if you can’t see that, you’re ignorant and you’re stupid as fuck, because you want to be. All because that’s the world we live in. Negativity sells, gossip is what sells, rumors are what sell,†Clary told King. The CBS host countered that these weren’t just “rumors†but decades of allegations against the singer. “We’re not here to talk about decades. We’re here to talk about what our parents are doing right now. And what they’re doing right now is all for money,†Clary said. After the interview, King said that R. Kelly was present in the room and would loudly clear his throat when certain topics were discussed. R. Kelly was arrested and sent back to jail on Wednesday for not paying child support.
