The Rock Threw Bill Hader Through a Backdrop on Saturday Night Live

A show with over 40 years of history amasses a lot of stories. Everything you think could have happened has happened on SNL, including Bill Hader getting thrown through multiple sets by Dwayne “The Rock� Johnson. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Hader recounted the time Johnson accidentally sent him into orbit. It was during a sketch called “The Rock Obama,� where Fred Armisen’s Obama hulked out and morphed into The Rock. All the other times they’d rehearsed it, Hader had jumped through the set’s fake window as Johnson pretended to throw him. But on the night, Johnson accidentally really threw him, not only through the fake window, but through the backdrop sky behind it. In wrestling we call that a “botch.�
