ALF Star Max Wright Has Passed Away

Max Wright, the actor best known as Will Tanner from the sitcom ALF, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. According to CBS Los Angeles, the actor had been diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995 and had been in remission, but he passed away on Wednesday at his home in Hermosa Beach, California. Wright spent four years portraying the beleaguered patriarch of the Tanner family, which befriends a cat-eating alien who crash-lands in their garage that they nickname ALF. While it’s his best-known role, Tanner enjoyed a long career appearing in numerous other sitcoms, including Friends, Quantum Leap, Who’s the Boss?, Murder, She Wrote, Mad About You, Murphy Brown, Norm, Cheers, and The Drew Carey Show. He also appeared in the 1994 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand as well as the films Soul Man, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, All That Jazz, and Reds. His wife, Linda Ybarrondo, passed away in 2017 after a battle with breast cancer. He is survived by their two children.
