Perfect comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous is finally available to stream on Hulu, and Ellen Barkin is as excited as the rest of us. As highlighted in Danny Pellegrino’s podcast, Everything Iconic, Drop Dead Gorgeous was only available on an out-of-print DVD for years. No Netflix, no Blu-ray, not even on iTunes. Hulu has finally given us the gift of Allison Janney’s Minnesota accent. The film, directed by The State’s Michael Patrick Jann, is a dark comedy centering on a Minnesota teen beauty pageant. Bodies pile up as teen girls in a small town compete to be Sarah Rose Cosmetics’ American Teen Princess. It’s Amy Adams’s first movie role and the first time she was brutally ignored by the Academy. The film features bravura performances from Kirsten Dunst, Janney, Brittany Murphy, Adams, Ellen Barkin, and Ellen Barkin’s hair. Barkin has been tweeting GIFs and interacting with fans on Twitter in celebration of the movie in which her hand gets fused to a beer can. Cinema! You can’t beat it.
