Netflix’s sentence for Orange Is the New Black came to an end this month, with the popular prison drama concluding its reign on the streaming service after seven seasons of crime, punishment, and a lethal dose of corruption. One of the show’s leading ladies, though, isn’t celebrating her proverbial exit from Litchfield. Taryn Manning, who portrayed Tiffany “Pennsatucky†Doggett with a whole lotta chutzpah (and a less lotta teeth) during those seven years, wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post how OITNB will always haunt her with unpleasant memories. “This show hurt me more than anything has in my life and if this is what I have to do to push what I stand for I will,†Manning wrote, per People. “Not one cast member cares about me. Just watch. No one cares to help so I am dedicated to learning how to make a difference.â€
“I have to speak out before anything happens to me,†she added. “Fuck fame! This show hurt humans. You will never truly know but many were hurt!†Manning didn’t elaborate on how OITNB hurt her or others, only saying her management team dropped her as a client due to “having a backbone.â€
Update, July 29: Manning is now claiming she didn’t write those OITNB comments, due to her Instagram account being “epically†hacked by an outsider. “I am back in and I am sorry,†she explained on Instagram. “I am sorry for these messages. I am back in now and was able to erase!†Manning also posted a new photo of herself and the show’s co-star, Uzo Aduba.
