American Horror Story fans may be getting a rather unwelcome first for the show in its upcoming ninth season. Variety reports that Sarah Paulson “will not appear in a significant role†in AHS: 1984, if she appears on the show at all. The actress has appeared in all eight seasons of the Ryan Murphy series to date, and since Murder House has been featured heavily in or anchored every subsequent season. Evan Peters, the show’s other most consistent player, announced earlier this year that he too would be skipping 1984, making it the first franchise installment without him. The new season will premiere on September 18, and the show has already received a green light for season ten.
