Well, maybe Kit Harington and Maisie Williamsâs boyfriend can commiserate about this over some lagers. Months after Game of Thronesâ Arya Stark leaped at anti-skin-care pioneer the Night King, killing him with a very fancy sword, Harington is admitting he was jealous that his character, Jon Snow, didnât get to have the honor. Actually, Harington was more than jealous. In his exact words, he was âpissedâ it went to somebody else. âI was a bit pissed off, only because I wanted to kill the Night King,â he recently told THR. âI think I felt like everyone else did, in that it had been set up for a long time, and then I didnât get to do it.â
Harington insists, though, that he was âhappyâ Williams ultimately got to do the slaying. âI was secretly like, âI wanted to do that!ââ he added. âBut it was a really great twist, and it tied up Maisieâs journey in a really beautiful way. Over the seasons, weâve seen her build up these skills to become this hardened assassin, and she uses it all to kill our main antagonist.â Following Aryaâs big kill back in April, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed they always planned on having our Winterfell warrior slay the Night King. âWe hoped to kind of avoid the expected. Jon Snow has always been the hero, the one whoâs been the savior, but it just didnât seem right to us, for this moment,â Benioff said. Ah, simpler times!
