Da, queen! Because The Crown is being a royal tease and refusing to give us anything new besides a premiere date and mini-trailer, EW was able to wrangle a few tidbits about the upcoming season for its new cover story: Specifically, three plotlines that’ll take up significant episode real estate when November 17 comes around. The rise of Labour leader Harold Wilson as prime minister was inevitable, however, what we’re most excited about is an episode dedicated to Queen Elizabeth’s very posh art adviser, Anthony Blunt, and how he was outed as a Soviet spy in 1964. Soviet! Spy! (Seriously, spend your morning commute reading his Wiki page and admiring his bone structure.)
The Crown will also spend time detailing the 1966 Aberfan disaster, when an avalanche of coal waste collapsed onto and buried a school in Wales — killing 144 people. “I had never heard of it, which breaks my heart slightly,†Olivia Colman, our new queen, told EW. Also heartbreaking? Art betrayal!
