That big FLOTUS energy is coming in hot — please cue the dancing! Viola Davis is playing Michelle Obama in Showtime’s First Ladies, a three-episode miniseries that’ll transport us into the White House to tell the stories of three different presidential wives. Per Deadline, each episode will “peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of our most enigmatic heroes†and will be primarily set in the East Wing, “where many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex, and dynamic first ladies.†Davis will portray Obama in one episode, while Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford will be the focus of the other two, with those casting announcements not yet confirmed. After six seasons of avoiding the consequences of murder, this seems like a nice treat.
