On Sunday night, Jason Bateman won the Emmy for Outstanding Direction of a Drama Series, something that will probably surprise you because you either didn’t know Jason Bateman directs episodes of Ozark or because you probably assumed Game of Thrones would win for an episode of its last season. But no! Jason Bateman won the Emmy, and nobody was as surprised about this as Jason Bateman, who looks like he was pretty sure he was being pranked. [Ron Howard voice] He was not being pranked. He did in fact win an Emmy. Or, as the celebratory Arrested Development banner would read: Michael! Emmy! Win! Maybe someone should put a banner like that up in Jason’s house to really convince him.
