Ryan Murphy’s next Netflix series has a lead, and the super-showrunner is borrowing from Broadway. Jeremy Pope has been cast in Hollywood alongside Darren Criss and David Corenswet, who will all anchor the show together. Murphy says it will be “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown,†with Deadline reporting it will likely be set in the 1940s, though little is officially known about the plot at this point. Hollywood has a straight-to-series order from Netflix, which comes after The Politician and Ratched, starring Sarah Paulson as the infamous nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Pope is a rising theater star, having been recently nominated for two Tonys, including Best Actor in a Play for Choir Boy and Featured Actor in a Musical for Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations. Sources say he’s bound for the role of Archie, an aspiring screenwriter, in Hollywood.
