Saturday Night Live ushered in its 45th season with a cold open starring, predictably, Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and, unpredictably, new cast member Bowen Yang as Kim Jong-un, as well as Liev Schreiber as himself. Also reprising their roles were Kate McKinnon as Rudy Giuliani, Aidy Bryant as Bill Barr, and Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro. Newly promoted cast member Chris Redd also trotted out his Kanye West impression with some help from Kenan Thompson. Aside from Baldwin’s increasingly tired Trump, the new and returning cast brought a nervous, excited back-to-school energy to the top of this episode. Welcome back, folks!
