Peter “the Pilot†Weber, who’s currently the leading man on the newest season of The Bachelor, has undergone emergency surgery in Costa Rica that resulted in 22 stitches in his face. Per People, Weber was enjoying a game of golf on Monday afternoon before filming kicked off in the country, when he “split his head open after he fell and hit his head on multiple cocktail glasses.†He reportedly attempted to step into a golf cart but lost his balance while carrying two glasses, which led to the fall. People reports that Weber, while shaken from the incident, is recovering well in the hospital. There’s also no word from ABC as to how his injuries will affect the show’s production schedule. Weber, a 28 year-old pilot for Delta Airlines, was chosen to be the newest Bachelor from a pool of handsome alums that included Tyler Cameron and Mike Johnson. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery so he can return to his windmill lifestyle soon.
Update, October 9: In a social media message, Bachelor host-dad Chris Harrison confirmed Weber was injured, but disputed the overall severity of the incident. (Weber and his contestants aren’t allowed phone access while filming.) “There’s been some wild claims and rumors about Peter today. Peter suffered a freak accident,†Harrison wrote. “He got a cut on his head, he did get stitches but he’s 100 percent okay and production is already back underway. He’s still the dashing, handsome pilot we’ve all dreamed of.â€
